Hollow Knight: Silksong will release on Switch along with all the usual PC platforms including Steam, Gog and the Humble Store. Having said that, this is a standalone experience of sorts so new players shouldn’t have any issues diving in. Gamers who supported the first game on Kickstarter will still be getting this for free too. Judging by the visuals and new gameplay elements it shouldn’t have a hard time doing so. Literally hundreds of amazing games have been released since Silksong was announced. The main game’s gorgeous visuals and fantastic Metroidvania gameplay propelled it to the top of the indie list in most people’s book, so here’s to hoping Hollow Knight: Silksong can do the same thing. In fact, the game features over 150 new enemy types with an intense focus on mobility. After being captured and swept away to a new land, players will have to unravel an entirely new tale filled with a smattering of new enemies, cities, bosses and much more. Generally, if you played Hollow Knight, it seems as though you'll be right at home with the gameplay in Silksong. Boss fights look to be a big part of Silksong, with the gameplay trailer released last year having shown off a couple of the main foes we'll be taking on. It's a Metroidvania game once again, meaning that certain areas are locked behind ability upgrades, with lots of backtracking involved. You'll explore different zones, slowly unlocking the map. So far, we've yet to see too much gameplay for Silksong, but what's been shown looks to be a continuation of the platforming/boss fighting of its predecessor. Once again, players will be able to find new abilities as they progress, giving them options for customizing Hornet. She is much more agile, able to dart and grapple around the world, with her needle weapon in hand. Players will play as Hornet in Hollow Knight Silksong, who is a pretty stark contrast when compared to the Knight from the first game.
